General Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all shoreside School of Engineering Labs, including the STEM, Bresnahan, and Crowley engineering labs
  • Manage the activities and priorities of student workers supporting the School of Engineering labs
  • Support lab instructors during lab sessions as needed
  • Setup, monitor, and manage an Engineering Labs action tracking system to respond to and track to completion all faculty/facility lab support requests
  • Manage the setup and break down various undergraduate lab experiments and activities on a weekly basis throughout the fall and spring semesters
  • Provide administrative support to the maintenance of all engineering lab equipment; approve students to operate equipment by verifying knowledge and safe operation
  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory in all School of Engineering labs, including ordering supplies and providing machining services as needed for all lab consumables
  • Conduct safety audits, particularly ensuring chemicals are stored and disposed of according to safety regulations, and all PPE items are readily available 
  • Develop safety training and administer training for students
  • Physical demands will vary with assigned tasks, but will require work outdoors in inclement weather, aboard boats, in wet labs, and around docks
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 40lbs

Qualifications and Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with three or more years of directly related experience
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent communicator
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to take on new duties as lab priorities and responsibilities change

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Familiar with engineering laboratory techniques
  • Prior experience in an engineering laboratory
  • Ability to instruct and/or assist in college-level engineering laboratory courses as needed

Salary

$62,000- $67,000; based on education, qualifications, and experience.
