    Oil Spill Responding

    July 01, 2014 - Massachusetts Maritime Academy held its first Oil Spill Response Workshop for local first responders on June 19, 2014. Forty first responders representing the Bourne Fire Department, Onset Fire Department, Bourne Harbormaster, United States Coast Guard (USCG), Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, and MMA’s Marine Operations division spent the day in classroom presentations, round-table discussions, and in-water oil spill response exercises. Responders practiced oil-boom deployment and recovery exercises with the Academy’s oil skimmer in Buttermilk Bay.
