  • Then and Now – In a Nutshell

March 03, 2015 - Campus construction is at an all time high. When Fran McDonald, MMA, ’85, returned to campus to work in Admissions in the mid 90’s, it was pretty much the same as when he left, a small school with about 700 students. Today, McDonald, recently named Executive Vice President, has been the person to oversee the last five plus years of capital construction plans.

For MMA cadets a warm return to Cape Cod cold

Trading Spaces: Cape Cod to Panama City

February 17, 2015 - Specific curriculum requirements may dictate completion of up to three co-ops during the four years at the Academy. Each co-op mandates a minimum of 240 hours per placement, followed by a comprehensive, written report for which they receive six credits.

Commonwealth Conversations at MMA Postponed Due to Weather

February 04, 2015 - Event postponed until Wednesday March 18th at 6pm in Admirals Hall in the Harrington Building
New Massachusetts Senate President Stan Rosenberg has planned a listening tour across the Commonwealth for senators from each district to hear from constituents on issues of concern. For more information, visit Commonwealth Conversations.

    We’re Everywhere

February 03, 2015 - And that’s really no accident. It helps that the Academy has an international component to it’s training and travel is part of the curriculum. We also try to spread the word by networking, visiting high schools and attending trade shows. Our alums are certainly everywhere. All of this expands our ability to attract the best and the brightest new cadets while growing our audience of potential employers. It also causes paths to cross and old friends to meet up.

Look Who’s Not On the Water

January 26, 2015 - Massachusetts Maritime Academy now offers seven majors. That’s a long way from the early nineties when there were just two, Marine Engineering and Marine Transportation. Graduates are not locked in to seagoing jobs. They can do lots of things … and … they do. Look who’s NOT on the water.

Look Who Else Is Not On the Water!

January 21, 2015 - Regardless of the fact that the Academy now has seven majors, it is not unusual for a grad to work outside of their major. The self confidence fostered by the Academy prompts these alums to believe they can do anything. And, they often do!

Mass. Maritime cadets embark on annual sea term cruise

January 12, 2015 - Family members huddled together and raised farewell signs for the 582 Massachusetts Maritime Academy cadets headed to St. Thomas, Puerto Rico and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for their winter semester at sea.

    Following the Voyage

January 05, 2015 - On most days, if you drive down to the Cape in January and February you’re not going to find too many people walking about — unless of course you visit to Taylor’s Point on Buzzard’s Bay!
