The Venue

Whether you are celebrating a birthday, christening, retirement, anniversary, throwing a shower, planning a reunion or rehearsal dinner, let the Beachmoor's bay side view be the perfect setting for your event. The Beachmoor sits quietly between a neighborhood of beach homes and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, overlooking Taylor's Point bay

A little history...
Taylor's Point was named after its most prestigious owner, General Charles H. Taylor, founder and editor of the Boston Globe. Mr. Taylor purchased the property in 1896 from Colonel Whittier who called the house the Beachmoor. In 1931 the Massachusetts Legislature decided that the south western tip of Taylor's Point was the perfect place for the Commonwealth Pier. However, ships and ferries found the canal too dangerous. In 1938 'the Great New England Hurricane struck Buzzards Bay, killing hundreds and damaging and destroying thousands of homes and vessels. Taylor's Point was not spared. When the water receded and the winds ceased, the only home still standing on Taylor's Point was the Beachmoor. In 1949 MMA's Commissioners realized the abandoned Commonwealth Pier was a perfect place for the Academy. Over the years, the Beachmoor changed hands and was finally purchased and renovated by MMA in 2011.

Beautiful spot and fabulous service! The Beachmoor was absolutely the perfect place for our wedding reception. It is right on the water in a private area of Buzzards Bay. The Beachmoor has a casual elegance to it - just the feeling that we wanted. The inside area is intimate and had a Cape Cod feel (rather than the impersonal hotel-type feeling of some places we visited). The area has windows all around it, so the view of the Bay area was gorgeous. Then the lawn right next to the beach was a really great area to have. Guests loved it! We had our pictures taken on the lawn and right on the beach and guests spent cocktail hour and time after dinner on the lawn right next to the water. The service was fabulous as well. Dana, the wedding coordinator was so helpful, personal and attentive all through the planning process and the day. She took care of it all. Lastly, the Beachmoor was very affordable - something that was essential for us. I feel like the Beachmoor is a hidden gem and I'm so, so happy to have had my wedding there. I would recommend it in an instant. Thank you so very much for your endless help, skills and support for our wedding last August. We appreciated all your patience and assistance in planning all the details of the day and then your solid support the we could trust and count on during the day. The whole celebration at the Beachmoor was absolutely perfect and unforgettable. Our guests of every age were remarking, for such a long time, how much fun they had and what a perfect place and spot it was. We owe so much of that to you and want to thank you again.
