Ms. Brock works as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist for the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment on Cape Cod. Her areas of expertise are in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Public Health, Environmental Science, Emergency Management, and OSHA Compliance. Ms. Brock assists multiple public and private sector facilities in these areas through the conducting of comprehensive EHS field assessments, training, and compliance assistance programs. She holds an interest in individualized genetic and environmental factors on the influence occupational illness. She has written and co-authored several articles on these subjects and has lectured and mentored throughout the New England states. Ms. Brock has received several awards including the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Environmental Excellence Award (2000), and the Governor’s Award for Toxic Use Reduction for the design and implementation of an innovative initiative for Pollution Prevention (P2) in the government sector. Her work in this area has been utilized as a template for a national focus on the safety of chemicals in schools. She was also nominated for the Harvard School of Government’s Innovations in Government Award for her work in facilitating collaborative efforts between local, regional, state, and federal government agencies. Ms. Brock was recently appointed to the EPA Government Advisory Committee (GAC) to the tri-national committee as a national representative for local governments. She holds an undergraduate degree from Simmons College, a Master’s of Science degree in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering and Emergency Management, and will begin work on a Ph.D. in Public Health and Emergency Management Policy in 2018.
