Congratulations! You are viewing this page because you are interested or were accepted to an education abroad program. Every cadet attending a study abroad experience must attend a mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation Session with the Office of Intercultural Engagement. Among other important items, the OIE will brief you on:

  • Insurance coverage 
  • Travel Safety
  • Emergency Contact protocol 
  • Standards of behavior while away
  • Cultural Adjustment resources
  • Health/vaccination reminders
  • Title IX resources

Below you will find important forms that need to be completed and returned the Office of Intercultural Engagement or Health, as well as basic information to benefit you during your travels.

Before You Leave the U.S.

  • Check your passport and entry requirements (visa)
  • Share information with your family regarding your trip
  • If it applies to your program or health, schedule travel health exam and obtain proper vaccinations
  • Contact bank(s) and credit card company(ies)
  • Make copies of important documents
    • Make paper copies, as well as electronic scans, of your
      important documents (passport, visa, and travel itinerary, etc.). Keep
      these in a safe place, leaving one copy in the U.S. and email yourself
      the electronic scans.
  • Gather important contact information
  • Review host country's safety, security and health information
