For over 100 years, Massachusetts Maritime Academy has been preparing women and men for exciting and rewarding careers on land and sea. As the nation's finest co-ed maritime college, MMA challenges students to succeed by balancing a unique regimented lifestyle with a typical four-year college environment. As a member of the cadet corps you will live, study, sail, work and play in an atmosphere that encourages you to be your best.
MMAPA on a Mission
The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Parents Association (MMAPA) plans and supports numerous activities throughout the academic year with the help of hundreds of volunteers from the MMA community to help. These activities include Sea Bag Week, Orientation Day Drop-Off, Open Houses, Sea Term Ship Departure/Arrival, Arrival Dinners, Welcome Aboard Programs and more! We are a critical extension of the MMA staff to help ensure that all planned events are successful and positive experiences.
MMA and Admiral Francis McDonald recently launched A Rising Tide, a $50 million, 10-year campaign that will grow the Academy’s endowment, be invested in capital projects, and increase scholarship and financial aid offerings to our cadets. We are well on our way to our goal of doubling our endowed scholarship (thank you to everyone who has made a gift!). Reaching our goal will ensure that the MMAPA will always be able to give out scholarships. With your help we will continue to impact the lives of our cadets in perpetuity.
None of this could be done without the outpouring of volunteer support from the cadet parents and families. However, we are always looking for creative ways to generate funds and engage members of the MMA family! We take pride in that 100 percent of our profit is returned to the school for academic and winter term scholarships.
