In its Hidden Gems selections for 2019, the college search site College Raptor recognized Massachusetts Maritime Academy among the schools in the Northeast that often fly under the radar. But based on some of the other accolades MMA received, the institution on Taylor’s Point in Buzzards Bay is in plain view to all in the know.

The Academy earned notable rankings from a pair of prominent publications, the U.S. News & World Report and Time’s Money Magazine, claiming top twenty spots in five separate categories.

Washington Monthly ranked the Academy first in the Northeast in its 2018 College Guide and Rankings category of Best Bang for the Buck while MMA also earned the top spot in the College Factual 2018 Rankings of Best Colleges for the Money of all undergraduates in Massachusetts (No. 6 overall in New England).

Washington Monthly’s rankings highlighted an exclusive list of schools that help modest income students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. The Academy edged out a pair of the most elite universities in the country, Ivy League stalwarts Harvard and Princeton, as the best in the Northeast. The Monthly recognized MMA’s low net price, and average annual earnings of around $80,000 ten years after starting college.
College Factual is a website which helps students discover a college and career they love without the cost holding them back. Its rankings were based on the quality of the education while keeping student debt to a minimum, factoring in how long it will take the average student to graduate from each particular school.

Some gems are worth their while whether they are hidden or not, no matter how large are small they are.

More National Rankings, fact and figures can be found at MMA's Instutional Effectiveness Rankings page.
