Massachusetts Maritime Academy Band Members Receive Top Collegian Music Honors
For the first time in Massachusetts Maritime Academy history three of the Academy's musicians where selected to perform with the National Intercollegiate Concert Band host by the College Band Directors National Association.The 2019 concert will be held on the campus of Arizona State University on Saturday 23 February 2019. The National Intercollegiate Concert Band will be conducted by Professor Rodney Dorsey of the Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. The band will be comprised of students from 39 colleges and universities out of the nearly 2,000 colleges and universities in America that can be named for the honor. The goal of the National Intercollegiate Concert Band was to select the top college musicians in the country from colleges with a student population of 5,000 or less. Massachusetts Maritime Academy has the honor of having three of our finest chosen among the field- Cameron Wentworth '20, Dominic Vaccari '21 and Benjamin Ackerman '22 !
Mr. Cameron Wentworth '20 is a Marine Science,Safety,and Environmental Protection (MSSEP) major. He is a 2016 Plymouth Local Schools graduate and alumnus DCI Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps was selected on Percussion.
Mr. Dominic Vaccari '21 is a Energy Systems Engineering (ESE) major. He is a 2017 Dartmouth High School graduate and a Drum Major of the national acclaimed Dartmouth High School Marching Band alumnus. He was selected on String Bass.
Mr. Benjamin Ackerman '22 is a Marine Transportation major. He is a Dartmouth High School graduate and an alumnus of the national acclaimed Dartmouth High School Marching Band. He was selected on Tuba.
