Oyster Farm Tour Boat Captain
As a growing company with a number of consumer facing platforms, farm tours hold a unique position in ICO’s constellation of branded business channels. Spreading the ICO gospel through first-hand interactions with people who are passionate about our brand is both an important revenue channel and potent marketing strategy. The Farm Tour Boat captain will be an integral part of the Farm Tour Team and on the frontier of New England’s high growth agritourism economy. The Captain will ensure compliance with all USCG regulations, the safety of our guests and crew, and add color-commentary to our guide/shucker’s narration of the on-water portion of our tours. This is a full-time, seasonal position on a Wednesday through Sunday schedule.
The Farm Tour Boat Captain reports directly to the Consumer Experience Director.
Holds a 25 Ton Masters USCG License or higher; Prior experience running USCG inspected sightseeing vessel; Familiar with all associated rules and regs; Navigational familiarity with Duxbury Bay preferred; Team oriented and works well with others in a collaborative, fast paced environment; Strong understanding of the brand and global culture of ICO; Ability to convey that brand through high caliber hospitality and education experience; High level interpersonal skills; Proficient in shucking preferred; Upbeat attitude and sense of humor, a must.
-Manage UCSG inspections of tour vessel
-Skipper 4 one-hour tours per day
-Ensure compliance with all applicable rules and safety regulations for the vessel for each tour group
-Intermittently participate in conducting the tour with the Guide and help him/her when necessary-
-Substitute for any of the other tour positions in the event staff is out sick etc.
-Maintain vessel cleanliness and order and facilitate maintenance plan
-Work with Cx Director as decision-maker on weather-related cancellations
-Be a good leader and role model for the entire farm tour team
-Contribute constructively and demonstrably to ICO culture and team
-Work collectively with farm tour guides, PL&E coordinator, and Cx Director
-Assist in one off onsite event opportunities when boat driver is needed
