SUMMARY:

The Mobile Operations and Maintenance Technician position covers the Cape Cod and Southern New England service area for Bennett Environmental Associates, LLC headquartered in Brewster, MA. In this position, you will provide operations and maintenance support to various water and wastewater facilities as directed by the MA Operations Supervisor. This role is an independent well organized self-starter able to manage his or her time to complete assigned site coverage(s) in an allotted time. Responsibilities include operations and maintenance as well as alarm call response and client satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc. in order to monitor system condition.
Prepare chains of custody and samples as per regulatory requirements and submit to certified lab.
Ability to analyze data from various sources and make corresponding process control changes to ensure compliance with facility discharge regulations.
Maintain complete, accurate; legible records of all phases of facility operations.
Participate in an On-Call rotation for 24hr alarm response.
Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance.
Perform general preventive maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes, pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
Assist to prepare monthly written operating report based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required.
Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
Work conscientiously and be aware of safety hazards.
Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities.
Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. troubleshooting and removal.
Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route.
Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Current MA water/ wastewater license in good standing
Title 5 Septic Inspection Certificate or ability to obtain within 1 year
Must be 18 years of age or older
40-hour work week: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Must be able to work weekends and holidays as requested
Overtime as required
Understanding of basic laboratory procedures
Climbing ladders, stairs, etc.
Bending or stooping
Extended periods of walking
Exposure to all weather conditions
Operating a motor vehicle
Operating landscape equipment
Operating power washer
Confined Space Entry – This may be required on occasion after thorough training session provided by NSU
Chemical exposure – Training will be provided by NSU for proper handling
