Assistant Chartering Manager
The Assistant Chartering Manager assists the Vice President of Chartering in the Bouchard Transportation corporate office with all charter party negotiations and deals, charter party management, voyage plans and customer relations.
Responsibilities:
• Calculate voyage plans for charter parties
• Negotiate and draw up spot and long term charter parties with customers
• Manage assigned charter party deals
• Work closely with dispatch to ensure a safe and efficient operation of all voyages
• Work to maximize potential earnings in the most cost effective manner
• Manage relationships with customers and act as their daily contact
• Develop and present monthly market reports
• Evaluate potential new business opportunities to ensure profitability and competitiveness
• Travel to meet with existing customers and new customers
• Attend industry and customer events, API conference, AFM conference, API tanker conference, harbor supply, Fuel oil buyers
• Support the ongoing development of a safety first culture
Skills, Education Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Maritime Transportation
• Minimum 3 years working with Jones Act charter party
• Strong knowledge and experience negotiating and managing charter parties
• Strategic mindset with strong ability to grow business and relationships
• Ability to travel as needed
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task and work in a fast pace environment
• The ability to conduct complex negotiations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Neat & professional in appearance
