General Statement of Duties:  Massachusetts Maritime Academy, located in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts seeks a Head Coach for its NCAA DIII Men’s Rowing Team. Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee daily practices and race weekends, manage program administrative duties, manage the team schedule, media relations, on and off campus recruiting, manage team budget per the purchasing guidelines established by the Academy and Athletic department, monitor student-athlete’s academic progress, work cohesively with Academy support departments, organize and conduct fundraising, and team building and community outreach events. The Head Coach should possess the ability to effectively communicate and motivate student-athletes, as well as manage team dynamics. The candidate must be knowledgeable of, and abide by, all Academy, MASCAC, and NCAA Division III policies. This position is a 20hr/week commitment through the months of September – October and March – June. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends is required.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy
  • Coaching experience
  • Recruiting experience
  • Ability to drive a trailer to transport shells
  • Experience with minor boat repairs and adjustments
  • A valid driver’s license is required. Must be willing to travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the unique mission of a maritime academy
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple boats on the water at one time
