aft: toward the back of the ship (stern)
all hands: the entire ship’s company, everyone on the ship
aweigh: the position of the ship’s anchor as it is raised clear of the bottom
beam: the width of a vessel at its widest point
bow: the front of the ship
bridge: the area where the ship is navigated, wheelhouse
chart: a map that depicts the configuration of the shoreline and the seafloor
dock: a fixed structure attached to shore to which a vessel is secured when in port
draft: the measurement of distance below the waterline
forward: toward the front of the ship (bow)
knot: a unit of speed equal to one nautical mile per hour
port: the left side of the ship when facing the bow
sick bay: an area of the ship designated for medical treatment
starboard: the right side of the ship when facing the bow
stern: the rear of the vessel
