Meet 4/C Brady Deschamps, a Marine Engineering major from Brewster, Massachusetts, a Cape Cod town with a rich maritime history.

Brady attended Eddy Elementary, Nauset Middle School, and Nauset Regional High School.

It should come as no surprise that Brady would love everything connected to boats.  Her family runs Nauset Marine, one of the most knowledgeable and respected marine facilities in Massachusetts. Boats have been a part of Brady’s life since Day #1.  By the time she was three, Brady was traveling on the Intracoastal Waterway from Florida to Virginia with her parents and her brother, Cole.

Brady’s grandparents helped her develop a love of boats.  They took her boating and watched as she learned to sail at Town Cove in Orleans

Brady has worked on the docks at Nauset Marine East Marina since she was fourteen.  She earned her launch license as soon as she could so that she could begin ferrying people to their boats out on moorings.

Brady watched her brother Cole pursue a degree in Marine Engineering at Massachusetts Maritime Academy seven years ahead of her.  At the time, she was not impressed.  When it was her time to pick a college, she decided to enter the engineering field.  Brady applied to many schools, but picked MMA because she had watched her brother and his friends from the Class Of 2019 get interesting, good paying jobs all over the world.

Back on campus, Brady is not only excelling in the classroom, she’s also making things happen on the soccer field.

Brady is thrilled that so many schools on Cape Cod are participating in the Follow The Voyage-Share The Experience Program, especially her former elementary school and middle school.

Brady also is happy to have PreK-12 female students following the TS Kennedy.  Although females still only makeup 2% of the 1.2 million seafarers worldwide, Brady and her fellow female cadets are taking steps to see the number rise.

On Sea Term 2023, Brady is excited to apply all that she’s learned at Nauset Marine and Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
