Diesel/Auxiliary Machines Instructor:  Demonstrated theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on ability in the design, operation, maintenance, assembly, disassembly and troubleshooting of Westerbeke 40 series four-stroke engines and Detroit 71 series two-stroke engines.  Auxiliary Machines instructor must have demonstrated and practical hands-on ability of auxiliary power plant essential equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, pneumatics, among others.  Must be able to use tools and tear down, reassemble and start-up engine within lab period. 

Electrical Machines/Electrical Power/Automatic Controls Instructor:  Electrical Machines Instructor must demonstrated theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on ability in AC & DC electrical circuits.  Teach electrical fundamentals, AC & DC motors & generators and distribution systems.  Analyze & perform electrical load calculations, power factor correction and paralleling gens.  Power Distribution Instructor must demonstrate theoretical and practical hands on ability in HV electrical distribution systems greater than 5kV.  Must have ability to teach how electrical power is produced, stepped up for transmission, stepped down for distribution including associated equipment requirements.  Automatic Controls Instructor must possess theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on ability in the design and operation of automatic control systems. 

HVAC/Refrigeration Instructor:  Demonstrated theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on ability in the design and operation of HVAC systems.  ASHRAE fundamentals, all types of equipment, heat load & heat loss calculations, heating & cooling degree days, system audits and smart building controls.

Commercial Boilers Instructor:  Demonstrated working knowledge and hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of high pressure watertube & firetube steam boilers, internal components, and auxiliary power plant essential equipment (e.g. pumps, heat exchangers, pneumatics, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in the subject matter, or
  • Minimum of 6 years of prior teaching experience within the discipline (or have sufficient credit to tenure), or
  • Active Engineering license applicable for the teaching discipline; examples include active licenses granted by the U.S. Coast Guard, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, or State Licensure Boards

Salary Range:  Approximately $4,000 to $6,000 per 3 credit course based on course and schedules.
