For over 100 years, Massachusetts Maritime Academy has been preparing women and men for exciting and rewarding careers on land and sea. As the nation's finest co-ed maritime college, MMA challenges students to succeed by balancing a unique regimented lifestyle with a typical four-year college environment. As a member of the cadet corps you will live, study, sail, work and play in an atmosphere that encourages you to be your best.
2017 Senior Class Campaign
What is the Senior Class Campaign?
It is an opportunity for the Class of 2017 to give back to MMA as they do to other nonprofits that they feel passionately about. This year the senior class is raising money for a scholarship in the name of Keith Griffin ’05, who was lost on the El Faro. The goal is for the class to reach 50% participation and raise at least $5,000 and when they reach this goal the MMA Foundation Board will match with their own $5,000 gift. The senior class cadets are the only ones who count for participation (so mobilize your classmates!) but anyone can make a gift to the campaign and help the Class of 2017 reach its goal! As part of the campaign we also have events that will help you navigate life after graduation from business etiquette to managing finances and from buying your first house to learning everything you wanted to know about Human Resources. A full list of events will be available soon.
The Senior Class Campaign Networking and Etiquette Dinner will be held on April 25 at 5:30 in the Bay State (please come in business attair). Please RSVP by Friday, April 21.
How do you participate? You can make your best gift online at maritime.edu/giving (but make sure to indicate that it is for the Senior Class Campaign) and most importantly remind your friends in the Class of 2017. And think about inviting your faculty, staff, friends, and family to join you and make their best gift too! Members of the class who give $20.17 or more will receive a commemorative glass, personalized with their class ring design. Members of the Class of 2017 who make a gift under $20.17 will sign the class banner that will be displayed at future reunions and in the Mess Deck at the end of the year. Make sure to make your best gift!
2017 SUNY Maritime Challenge The class of 2017 has been challenged by the class of 2017 at SUNY to see which class can get the highest percent participation in their Senior Class Campaign between April 1-21. The School that loses will have to fly the flag of the winning school one day next fall when the winning team goes to their campus. Last year the MMA Class of 2017 won the Challenge and we hope to continue that tradition this year. Make your best gift to be counted in the campaign!
