"MMA is full of great experiences and many opportunities in both academics and sports. I have been running XC since freshman year and have loved it from day one! The camaraderie felt from being on a team is just one of the many reasons I enjoy MMA so much." - Lauren Fograshy, is from Monson, MA and is majoring in Marine Transportation.

"Coming from an all girls school, MMA was a huge adjustment for me. Although it is a challenging lifestyle and takes hard work to make it through, the discipline, knowledge, and leadership that the Academy has instilled in me is incomparable. I can't believe that two years has already gone by; I am in a leadership position, entering my third cross-country season and preparing for another commercial shipping experience this winter. I would have never imagined myself to be accomplishing the things I have at the Academy but I am extremely proud of myself and excited to see what the next two years have to offer." - Kaitlin O'Donnell, hails from Damascus, MD and attended the Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, MD.

"As a cadet in the Marine Transportation major, I have been training on the deck and in the wheelhouse. Not only have I been learning how to throw lines and handle the towing cable, but I have also spent time learning how to handle the boats. My favorite parts of the job are working out on deck in the nice, summer weather and maneuvering the boat and barge off the dock and up and down the river." - Charlotte Huson graduated from Westford Academy in Westfield, Massachusetts.

"I came to Mass Maritime because of the great job placement, leadership experience and the traveling opportunities. As a freshman I didn't know what I wanted to major in, Mass Maritime gives you the chance to try-out each major aboard the training ship and decide from there. Being a senior the leadership and discipline Mass Maritime has given me has prepared me for the real world, which I got to see first hand doing an 8 week co-op with a tug company in Baltimore." - Cali Longtin from Feeding Hills, MA is a two sport athlete majoring in Marine Safety Environmental Protection.

"Mass Maritime is not only a place of learning. It is a place where you can grow as a confident leader and find the strong individual within yourself." - Amanda Priest, from Attleboro, MA is studying Marine Safety & Environmental Protection and plans to graduate with a concentration in Marine Biology.

"I wanted to be part of a community where tradition, leadership and academic excellence is valued. MMA offfers students the feeling of self respect and confidence that you wouldn't find at a regular college. I came here because I want a successful future and I know that if I work hard this school will lead me in the right direction." - Kerri Conway, is a first year cadet from West Springfield, MA.

"I chose to major in Marine Engineering, and minor in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation I will have opportunities both at sea and on land, which open doors to many different experiences. I love the math courses I take as an engineer and the engine room on the training ship is the ultimate lab. I am a member of the varsity sailing team which allows me to take a break from the academics." - Kate Maynard, from Weymouth, MA, will graduate with the class of 2010.

"Choosing MMA came easy to me when I learned about the potential for women. Yes, life at MMA is a huge challenge, commitment, and adjustment, but itメs totally worth it for me. I tell myself, There is no personal growth if things are easy. Also, with the encouragement of the athletic staff and the support of our fellow cadets, the women's sports teams are progressing at great speeds." -Victoria Presutti, is a top volleyball player from Marshfield, MA majoring in Marine Safety Environmental Protection.
