General responsibilities: Troubleshooting and repairing of all Academy simulator systems’ hardware and software malfunctions. Preparing, operating, and securing all simulators and their associated hardware and software. Creating and running exercises/scenarios with any of the Academy simulator systems. Creating and updating charts, publications, and documentation associated with simulation training. Assisting and training other operators, instructors, and faculty in the operation of all simulator systems. Cleaning and preventative maintenance for all simulator systems and ancillary equipment. Maintaining readiness and order within all simulation spaces.
Qualifications and requirements: Technical degree in Computer Science or two or more years of experience in systems support. Experience with networking, PC hardware, software, and peripherals in a Windows environment. Experience with various software installation packages, drivers, and associated files. Experience in running simulation devices and equipment used in professional training programs. Effective communication, leadership, and team-building skills. Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse work force.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited institution with an appropriate degree or five or more years of work experience in the repair of marine electronics (RADAR, ECDIS, Gyro, and VHF/UHF), computers and associated peripherals. Formal electronics training, license or certification in electronic repair, i.e. FCC element 3 or NARTIE certified technician. Familiarity with simulator systems and manufacturers such as CSC, TRANSAS, MPRI or BCG. Familiar with vessel operations.
Salary: $44,000-$48,000; this position has been designated as FLSA exempt. The Academy offers generous benefit policies and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
