Information on the ALEKS Program
Students Who Score Below 40 On Accuplacer College Level Mathematics
Successfully Completing the ALEKS Option
If you choose this option, you will need to demonstrate mastery (as measured by the program’s “Course Mastery” pie chart at the link below) of all 148 topics in the “MMA Prep for Algebra/Trig Summer 2015” course AND successfully complete the “Goal Completion Assessment” given at the end of the ALEKS Program (after demonstrating mastery of all 148 topics).
To complete this option, you will need to purchase a subscription to ALEKS, a self-paced computer tutorial program. The course has been designed to meet the needs of underprepared students who will be enrolled in "Algebra and Trigonometry" during their first semester at MMA. Participation in the ALEKS tutorial program does not lead to any course advancement, nor does it provide course credit. It does, however, provide you with the mathematics skills required for success in "Algebra and Trigonometry," a foundational course that must be passed to continue at MMA.
Important Note: All assessments are to be done without assistance. You are not permitted to seek the help of tutors, mathematics coaches, friends, etc. In addition, the first assessment must be completed without use of a calculator.
