Students Who Score Below 40 On Accuplacer College Level Mathematics

Your score of less than 40 indicates that there are gaps in your quantitative reasoning skills and you are not prepared for College-level mathematics. If you do not opt to take a college course in Intermediate Algebra before attending MMA, you are urged to complete the online ALEKS program, "Prep for College Algebra with Trigonometry/MMA 2014."

Successfully Completing the ALEKS Option

If you choose this option, you will need to demonstrate mastery (as measured by the program’s “Course Mastery” pie chart at the link below) of at least 119 of the 148 topics in the “Prep for College Algebra with Trigonometry/MMA 2014” course.

To view the course syllabus, which includes all 148 topics, click the following: PCAT Syllabus

To complete this option, you will need to purchase a subscription to ALEKS, a self-paced computer tutorial program. The course has been designed to meet the needs of underprepared students who will be enrolled in "Algebra and Trigonometry" during their first semester at MMA. Participation in the ALEKS tutorial program does not lead to any course advancement, nor does it provide course credit. It does, however, provide you with the mathematics skills required for success in "Algebra and Trigonometry," a foundational course that must be passed to continue at MMA.

The program for which you will register has been selected by the mathematics faculty at MMA, who will closely monitor your progress through the program.

Important Note: All assessments are to be done without assistance. You are not permitted to seek the help of tutors, mathematics coaches, friends, etc. In addition, the first assessment must be completed without use of a calculator.
