General responsibilities: Assist Boat Donations, Center for Maritime Training and the Training Ship as needed. Repair motor vehicles and equipment by overhauling, rebuilding, replacing or adjusting gasoline or diesel engines, carburetors, distributors, alternators, generators, starters, differentials and transmissions according to manufacturer’s specifications. Service vehicles and equipment by changing and repairing tires, adjusting brakes and cleaning and lubricating parts as needed to ensure their optimum working order. Perform body repairs and windshield or window replacements. Operate snow removal and/or sanding equipment and vehicles. Operates other equipment used in automobile operations and repair such as hydraulic lifts, bumper jacks and diagnostic testing equipment. 

Qualifications and requirements:
Knowledge of principles, practices, tools and techniques of automotive repair and maintenance. Knowledge of operation of internal combustion engines and principles of diesel engines. Knowledge of standard methods and techniques for the storage of hazardous materials. Ability to read and interpret documents such as shop manuals, plans, specifications, blueprints and drawings. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of small craft and associated equipment. Participation in the chemical testing random selection process is required. Must possess high school diploma and current valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Class 2 or Commercial Driver’s license desired. Possession of a valid hoisting license is preferred.

Salary: Grade 13/Step 1: $1,327.52 Bi-weekly; $34,515.52 Annually

Shift:
7:00 AM – 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday
