Accolades and distinctions have been coming in so fast they may soon be piling up at the Academy gates! Following close on the heels of a number of surveys and articles published in June 2013, placing MMA high on national, college return on investment scales, AC Online recently ranked MMA as number four of sixteen public colleges whose “grads make millions.”
These sixteen public colleges and universities belong to a very exclusive club: their graduates earn, on average, at least one million dollars more over 30 years than non-degree holders. They represent the absolute cream of the crop, the Top 1% of colleges in the U.S. when it comes to return on investment.”
Thirty years ago U.S. News and World Report started publishing an annual ranking list of the best U.S. colleges and universities. Over the years they have changed their methods and criteria in an attempt to keep up with a changing world. Today, their focus is on quantifying the success a school has in graduating students. In their 2009 list of “Best College Rankings” Massachusetts Maritime Academy placed number twelve overall and number four in the “Top Public Baccalaureate College” category. The magazine’s 2014 rankings of “Top Public Schools - Regional Colleges North” rankings place the Academy third. Categories may have changed but one thing is certain. The Academy is moving up and moving fast.
Another recent success is MMA’s inclusion on Victory Media’s (a veteran-owned business and publisher of G. I. Jobs and the Guide to Military Friendly Schools®) Military Friendly School list. Over twelve thousand schools were reviewed. By making the list, the Academy ranks in the top fifteen percent nationwide that deliver the best experience for military students. The survey weighting, methodology and resulting list is independently certified by Ernst and Young. To learn more about this process and the other rankings, check out the links below.
