On behalf of Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA), I am excited to announce that we are now accepting nominations for our Junior Women Leader (JWL) in STEM Award. The goal of this prominent award is to spotlight current female high school juniors who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in one or more of the following areas: science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
As a leader in STEM education, MMA offers challenging and experiential curriculums. Furthermore, MMA realizes its role in promoting the advancement of women in science, technology, engineering, and math. To enhance these efforts, I have enclosed the Junior Women Leader in STEM Award nomination and reception information in hopes you (or a colleague) will find time to nominate a student deserving of this esteemed recognition.
To be eligible to receive the JWL in STEM Award, candidates must:
Be a female enrolled in her junior year at a private or public high school,
Demonstrate excellence and leadership in one or more STEM disciplines, and
Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Students will receive the JWL in STEM award and a scholarship to our Sea, Science, and Leadership Program. Of those students, the top three recipients will be awarded the Junior Women Leader Scholarship upon enrollment at Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Fall 2016. This scholarship pays a minimum of full tuition (in-state equivalent) for one year and recipients must be in attendance at the award ceremony to receive the JWL Scholarship.
Congratultions to the Junior Women Leaders in STEM 2014!
