Massachusetts Maritime Academy - Campus Upgrades Operations - Campus Upgrades

                                                                      Campus Improvements

The Operations Division is responsible for major deferred maintenance and capital projects and carries out those missions with the philosophy of building a robust sustainability program and investing renewable energy on campus.

In 2005 the Bresnahan Academic Building was expanded by adding a new engineering lab space and multi-use classrooms.

Clean Harbors Athletic Center was appropriately named in June 2009 due to the generous gift of $1,500,000.00 donated by Clean Harbors.  The agreement is a symbol of the values and legacy Clean Harbors and the Academy hold in common and strengthen the commitment of environmental services and solutions.

The Able Engineering Media Center was recently completed with cardio/press box (complete with water views) adjacent to the gymnasium overlooking the 1200 seat stadium.  Other upgrades include the installation of an ADA/Elevator, newly renovated training room and upgraded locker rooms.

Pande Dining Hall underwent a major renovation in 2011 to accommodate our growing enrollment.  The renovation included modernizing the dish-drop area designed for our environmentally friendly tray-less facility as well as a stunning expansion of the servery.

Campus Decentralization has been completed in 2010 to include HVAC/decentralization of Hurley, Harrington, Power Plant, and T. S. Kennedy.

The state-of-the-art $23,000,000, 42,000 square foot LEED Gold Certified ABS Information Commons is the newest academic building on campus.  The building is cooled and heated by a geothermal system along with chilled beam technology.  The building also includes a full mission Ship’s 360° Bridge Simulator located on the mezzanine.  This state-of-the-art simulator will give cadets panoramic first-hand experience in ship handling. The grand opening was 07 September 2011.
