The Greater Boston Chapter of the American Association of Safety Engineers is offering scholarships for MSEP majors.

The Cranberry Educational Foundation is offering three scholarships to qualifying students.  Applicants must be enrolled at an institution of higher education and have completed their first semester with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.  These scholarships are not limited to a specific field of study, but students studying agriculture, the environment or natural resouces will receive priority.

Applicants must be from:  Carver, Duxbury, Halifax, Hanover, Kingston, Hanson, Marshfield, Pembroke, Plymouth or Scituate.  Applications must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from anyone other than a family member and a typed explanation of up to 250 words on why the student has chosen their field of study and a projected career goal.

Deadline to apply is May 31, 2013.

The FLORIDA HARBOR PILOTS ASSOCIATION is offering two minority scholarships.  Each scholarship is for $2500.  Please use the attached scholarship application if you are interested in applying.

Must have completed your first seaterm experience
Must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
Must be planning to pursue a career as a state harbor pilot, preferably in the State of Florida
Write a maximum 250 word essay explaining why you are interested in becoming a harbor pilot.

IEEE/OES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

1. Multiple undergraduate and graduate scholarships of $2,000.00 are available twice yearly.

2. Eligibility - Students must be enrolled fulltime in an accredited college or university in a field of study that will lead to a career in ocean engineering or a related ocean science field.

3. Undergraduate Eligibility -
     a. Must submit a scholarship application  outlining his/her field of study and plans for a career in ocean engineering or a related ocean science field.
     b. Must have completed (at least) the second year of study.
     c. Must submit an academic transcript.
     d. Application must be accompanied by written recommendations from two faculty members.
     e. Must have been a student or regular member of the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society at least six months prior to the beginning of the requested scholarship year.

4. Graduate Eligibility -
     a. Must submit a scholarship application outlining his/her field of study and plans for a career in ocean engineering or a related ocean science field.
     b. Must be currently enrolled, or have been accepted, in a graduate program of ocean engineering or a related ocean science field.
     c. Must have demonstrated excellence in academics and the ability to perform independent research, through professional and/or academic recognition programs.
     d. Application must be accompanied by a written recommendation by an academic advisor.
     e. Must have been a student or regular member of the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society at least six months prior to the beginning of the requested scholarship year.


5. Application Deadlines:
     a. There are two award cycles each year.  Completed scholarship application must be postmarked by 1 April for scholarship award in September of that year, or 1 September for an ward in the following January. References and recommendations must accompany the application.
     b. Official transcripts, mailed by the academic institutions, must be received by April 15th for September awards and September 15th for January awards..
     c. Scholarships will be awarded during the spring and fall meetings of the OES Executive or Administrative Committee. Recipients of the awards will be invited to attend the following OCEANS Conference to be recognized at the OES Awards Luncheon.

6. Administration - The Scholarship program will be promoted at the OCEANS Conferences and on the IEEE/OES website. A Scholarship Committee will be formed under the Student Activities Coordinator which will solicit and review scholarship applications, and recommend scholarship awardees at the spring meeting of the IEEE/OES Executive or Administrative Committee.
