When to Apply for Admission


International students may apply for fall or spring semester. Remember:  The application process for international students requires more time. Therefore, applications should be filed early to allow admission counselors time to review all credentials and assure that all immigration regulations are met.

Spring 2015 Admission Dates and Deadlines:


October 1, 2014
- Application Deadline
December 1, 2014 - Deposit Deadline for Admitted students
End of February - Preparatory Orientation (Additional to preparatory orientation, ALL spring admitted students will have to participate in the New Student Orientation given Fall 2015)

Fall 2015 Admission Dates and Deadlines:


November 1, 2014
- Early Action application deadline
Mid December - Early Action notice release
January 2, 2015 - start of bi-weekly decision notice release for all applicants
May 1, 2015 - Deposit deadline for admitted students
Mid August - Required New Student Orientation Program
Early September - Beginning of Academic year


The Application process

1) To ensure that your application is processed in a timely manner, please send all application materials in one large envelope as a self-managed packet (please make sure your full name is on each item) , including:
  • Completed International Student Application (Please DOWNLOAD AND TYPE responses)
  • Application Fee of US $50.00, in the form of check or money order
  • Photocopy of the name page in your passport. It is critical that your name in our student information systems matches your passport exactly.
  • Photocopy of previous US visas
  • Official academic records with English translations, including transcripts from your secondary and/or post-secondary institutions (if applicable).
  • Affidavit of Support, along with official supporting evidence (Please DOWNLOAD AND TYPE responses)
  • ACT or SAT ( Institution code 3515)

  • Evidence of English proficiency, we accept: (Be aware that testing done in November [for Early Decision] and January [for regular Decision] may not arrive in time for the admission counselor's consideration)
                     TOEFL, institution code 3515. TOEFL Requirement - iBT 75, pBT 530, cBT 200
                      IELTS, requirement 6.0
                      Unless the student has attended an English instructed school for at least one year
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals who will attest to your potential to succeed at our college.
  • Personal essay of at least 300 words on the most important reasons for selecting Massachusetts Maritime Academy as the college of your choice.
