When to Apply for Admission

Our programs begin in August. Applying between September and March of the previous year will ensure time to acquire a student visa.

The Application process

1) To ensure that your application is processed in a timely manner, please send all application materials in one large envelope as a self-managed packet (please make sure your full name is on each item) , including:

  • A typed International Student Application
  • Application Fee of US$ 50.00
  • Photocopy of the name page in your passport. It is critical that your name in our student information systems matches your passport exactly.
  • Photocopy of previous visas
  • Official academic records with English translations, including transcripts from your secondary and/or post-secondary institutions (if applicable).
  • SAT or ACT (for freshmen only; our institution code is 3515)
  • A measure of English proficiency (we accept TOEFL; our institution code is 3515)
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals who will attest to your potential to succeed at our college.
  • Personal essay of at least 300 words on the most important reasons for selecting Massachusetts Maritime Academy as the college of your choice.
  • Proof of financial resources: MMA requires that you complete an “Affidavit of Support.” The “Affidavit of Support” will be mailed to you upon request.
