Admissions - Santander Announces Three-Year Agreement With MMA

Buzzards Bay, MA (March 30, 2011) – Sovereign Bank, a part of Banco Santander, announced today it has signed a three-year agreement with the Massachusetts Maritime Academy to help expand the Academy’s international outreach initiatives.
Sovereign Bank will provide financial support for the initiatives through Santander Universities, a major initiative created by Banco Santander to support higher education and advance the bank’s goal of expanding knowledge and experience globally. The agreement will launch Santander Universities Study Abroad Scholarship Grants for cadets to study abroad at Shanghai University. It will also provide International Maritime Business Scholarships to cadets within the International Maritime Business program, and for grants to send cadets to the annual International Association of Maritime Universities.

The agreement affirms a partnership under which the Massachusetts Maritime Academy joins a network of nearly 20 U.S. colleges and universities that participate in the Santander Universities Global Division, including: Babson College, Bentley University, Boston University, Brown University, Bryant University, Columbia University, Harvard, Long Island University, MIT, Northeastern, NYU, Providence College, SUNY, Tufts University, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.
